COMMUNITY OUTREACH

In Service to America

VVA Chapter #1084 Community Outreach

A very significant part of VVA Chapter #1084's purpose is to give back to our community. We have identified several programs and projects to which our members are giving their time, talent and treasure. Some of these are ongoing and others are seasonal. Some are directly related to veterans while others such as the Education Committee are involved with mentoring and recognizing youth in our community. If you want to ask for our help, simply email us at info@vva1084.org. One of our officers will get back to you.

Here are just a few of the programs that VVA Chapter 1084 is participating in.

Wreaths Across America

Wreaths Across America's - mission is to Remember, Honor and Teach. On the Second Saturday of December, each year, the National group coordinates the laying of wreaths at the graves of veterans at Arlington National Cemetery and over 600 other locations across the United States.

We are blessed to have a local group here in North Florida that coordinates the Wreaths across America for the St. Augustine National Cemetery.

Missing in America Project (MIAP)

Missing in America Project - The purpose of the MIA Project is to locate, identify and inter the unclaimed cremated remains of American veterans through the joint efforts of private, state and federal organizations. To provide honor and respect to those who have served this country by securing a final resting place for these forgotten heroes.

Veterans Treatment Court

Veterans Treatment Court - Provide information and education about Veteran's issues to Substance abuse, PTSD and TBI. Initiatives to avoid the unnecessary internment of mental illness and extended incarceration.

Homeless Veterans

Homeless Veterans - Short term emergency needs (Shelter, Food, Transportation, Stand Down).

Education

Education - Internal education support will include all useful and requested education support activities and education assistance for VVA Chapter #1084 members and their families.

External education support will be education support for all S. Johns County Community Agencies working to improve the quality of life, growth and development, self respect, and community respect for Vietnam–era and other veterans.
